Privacy Policy
This policy explains what DroneLive (“we”, “us”), an ETARGET site operated from the United States, collects when you visit dronelive.com, and what we do with it.
Information we collect
- Account information: email address, handle, password (stored only as a salted one-way hash), and optional display name, bio, location, avatar and YouTube channel name and link. Your handle, display name, bio, location, avatar, YouTube channel and approved videos are public. Your email address is not.
- Content you submit: video uploads, YouTube links, titles and descriptions; reports and contact-form messages.
- Launch-list emails: if you ask to be notified about live streaming, we store your email address for that purpose only.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and request logs created by our web server, plus short-lived records of login and form attempts used to prevent abuse.
Cookies
We use a strictly necessary session cookie (dl_sess) to keep you logged in and protect forms from forgery, and a small preference cookie that remembers that you dismissed our cookie notice. Third parties described below may also set cookies.
Advertising and Google
We may display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You may also visit aboutads.info to opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used.
YouTube and other embedded content
YouTube videos on DroneLive are embedded using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and only load after you click play. Video thumbnails are fetched from Google’s image servers (i.ytimg.com), which means Google receives your IP address when a thumbnail is displayed. When you play an embedded video, YouTube’s terms and Google Privacy Policy apply.
How we use information
To run your account and public pilot page, review uploads, respond to reports and messages, keep the site secure, notify you about launches you asked for, and understand how the site is used. We do not sell your personal information.
Sharing
We share information only with service providers that host or deliver the site (for example our web host), with advertising partners as described above, when required by law, or to protect our users and site. Public profile content is visible to anyone.
Retention and deletion
You can delete your account from your dashboard at any time; this permanently removes your profile, videos and uploaded files. Server logs and abuse-prevention records are kept for a limited time. Launch-list emails are kept until the feature launches or you ask us to remove you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, the EEA or the UK) you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, or object to certain processing. Contact us through the contact form and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Children
DroneLive is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, and access controls, but no system is perfectly secure. Choose a strong, unique password.
